162 Days in the East
Janine

Hi, I'm glad you found our site!!

A short introduction of myself:

I'm Janine, somewhere in my 30's (ehhhh a bit of a sensitive subject *grin*).
I'm professionally involved as an accountant for the past 9 years. At this moment I'm the financial controller for
De Lucht restaurants, a chain of 3 roadside-restaurants and 2 petrol-stations and also one of our sponsors!!

I'm addicted to travelling in general (and don't want to be cured at all :-)) and specially when mountains are involved.

Thanks to Lindsay and Nadia (two crazy Canadian women We have met in Nepal :-)) I'm totally into triathlons since 1999, although an entire one is a bit to much for me, so I'll stick to the 1/8 and 1/4. I'm not a top runner, but hey, I can make it to the finish :-)
Recently I discovered indoorclimbing.

I love hanging out with our friends, going to the movies, cooking and eating out, dancing, singing (while I'm taking a shower *grin*) reading, gardening but also (Arno's nightmare :-)) watching soap-series at home.

For me, the main reason for this sabbatical is having a big, big break from the rat-race and having time to think about my life and "loading the battery" again. And combined with exploring new countries and new cultures, well, it's a dream come true.

The question of whether I should quit my job or not was a difficult one.
On the one hand having the freedom of travelling as long as our money last and don't have to be back home again for a specific date seemed very. very tempting. And I felt it wasn't fair to my employer: While I'm discovering new countries I leave my colleagues with an overload of work.
But on the other hand I love my job and therefore quitting didn't felt like the most sensible thing to do. Lucky for me, my employer didn't liked the idea of me quitting either, so I decided to stay.
