Visa
|
Single entry which can be obtained at the Kilis or Jabir border stations. This seems to be depending on your nationality. The rule
seems that you can get a visa at the spot if your own country doesn't host a Syrian embassy or consulate. The Turkish border officials are uncertain to let you pass without a Syrian visa. Try
to convince them to let you go. A visa can also be obtained at the Syrian embassy in Amman or Ankara and takes a letter of reccomendation of your embassy plus a few days of processing time.

Weekly dieseltax = 100 US$ Watch out for tourist officers at the Bab al Hawa border : 1) They will try to make
you believe they are the border officials. Don't give them your carnet or car papers. They want a 'processing' fee. 2) Border officials try to charge you a fee for tearing the
export/import ballot or make a problem of your stay with a diesel car in Syria if it comes close to 7 days. 3) Oher dudes try to fix postal stamps on your Carnet and try to charge you for
10 US$. 4) There will probably be more scams!!
